Dream Big
Do you recall yourself as a child and you had dreams of what you were going to be when you grew up, or what it is you wanted to become. Did those dreams fade, diminish, or were they somewhat thwarted by another individual’s comments to you?
We’re allowed to dream big. I personally like to write down my goals and steps to achieve them. Now, I admit, I’m not a huge out of the box thinker, but I do want to plan realistic goals for myself.
Something that I learned from watching The Secret was to create a visual display board that had the vision for what I wanted my life to be in the future. I did this because I’m not a visual person. I’m extremely literal, hence why I would write my goals down. I had steps to accomplish them this way and I felt “safe”.
I created this visual board, putting my all into it. I included the colors that I love, and made it something that I would be proud to look at every day. Now, I didn’t do anything drastic with it. I included elements of my life that I want to see improve or hold on to, and today as I look at that board, I have everything that I could have visioned. I see this as a visual reminder, and I feel so happy that I worked on this task.
To put this board together, it did require me to dream. I worked on it in a very low point in my life, after getting out of a bad marriage, didn’t know where to turn to pay my bills, and left to fend with two children on my own. I needed something desperately to hold on to and keep me going. This vision board was successful in allowing me to dream big. It was an incredible exercise in positive thinking.
Now, that I see those items accomplished, I see how much that time was valuable. I was able to dream and make my life what I really wanted it to be.
So, dream big. Write down you goals, or create a vision for what you want in your life. This simple step is a reminder every day of what you hope to accomplish, and you can make it happen.
